Pune 25.07.2013

Dancing Splendour and Eye of The Storm are the main contenders and you can make a decision on which horse to back before the start.

Trainer Narendra Lagad does not run horses in Pune. He has blank cheques and whenever he feels like he wtites the date on the cheque and encashess them. I feel the date for the cheque of New Star has come. Just view race number 204 on Feb 17 2013 in Mumbai won by stablemate So True (rated at 38). New Star finished(rated 27) fourth  a mere 1.25 lengths behind. New Star ran only once after that in race number 314 on April 7 2013 where it was entrusted to jockey V chandrakant and the stablemate Titeleist was the tried horse. So True susequently won a race on promotion (rated 47) and was a close second to Hawkeye and beat Emerging Star in race number 279 on further promotion. Today all these three are running. So True at 61, Hawkeye at 84 and Emerging Star at 86. New Star is a half sister to Game Dancer which Trainer warren Singh has had many successful gambles in sprint races.NEW STAR should be tomorrows best bet.

The second cheque to be encashed tommorow should be Blush. Generally, Mr. Lagad has his winners with ordinary jockeys but this is one horse in his stable which has won 5 times. Thrice with jockey Ladjadj Stephanie and twice with Trevor Patel. May be it requires stronger riders. Hence, with jockey A Sandesh engaged to ride should win.

Dancing Pheonix ran a cracker of a race in the Poonawala Breeders Multimillion led the field into the straight after a start to finish effort and was in the fighting line till the last 200 m. Emerging Star will be a tough customer as it has already won last pune season in the hands of jockey Sandeep Jadhav beating Ishpingo who won thrice in the last Mumbai season.

A race for unraced three years old might be quite tricky avoidable.

Amazing Desire stands tall in this group. Its last two runs have to be ignored as stablemate Supreme Star 9late Shivalik Hero) was the fancied horse in the field. The run before these was in race number 22 on Nov 25 2013 in Mumbai where it lost narrowly to Montezuma by 3/4 length(rated 4 points more than Montezuma) after being denied a clear run in the straight. Otherwise the result may have been different. Montezuma is rated at 96 today and Amazing Desire at 58.

Best Bet for the day: Amazing Desire

Second Best: New Star

Third Best: Blush
