Kolkotta Races 14.08.2013

A thumb rule race. Apyrous ran a cracker of a race on the first day, the opening race of the season and has been working well since. Silken Senorita had a slipped saddle last time. Ijlal had his jockey suspended in the last run for not following the instructions of the trainer. Then there is Sartaj who if a jobber will floor them all.

Should be a straight fight between Blue Lightning and Carnival Point, while the former running for the first time has had the benefit of a mock race and the latter has had the benefit of a run and with jockey P S Chouhan donning the silks will go all out. Both the animals are well bred. Make your pick.

Promises to Keep is being ridden by jockey I Khan. It certainly does not inspire confidence. But just look at the mock race it had on 06.08.2013. A real outstanding run. It just cannot loose on the basis of that mock race. It could have won that mock race. Best part is it was ridden by I khan himself in the mock race. Add to it that the mock race was with blinkers and the horse is running with blinkers for the first time. If we go to its past performance on October 28 2012 it ran second to Bold Desire by a length and the field was 7.5 lengths behind. Bold Desire was rated 24 and Promises to Keep was at 21.  Bold Desire went on to win another race at 35 and yet another at 44. compared to that Promises to Keep is rated at 11 today. My advice is to take a chance on Promises to Keep tomorrow else do not back any horse against it in the race.

Haddock ran in the Colts Trial Stakes on Sep 8 2012 and finished ahead of two horses which were rated much higher and was penalized 9 rating points for that run and ran 5 times in the higher class and has not finished more than 2.75 lengths behind the winner four times. Today it is running on demotion has a good chance. Zoffany's last run the Owners and the trainer have given a written complaint against the jockey asking for an enquiry to the way it was ridden. Surprisingly, the rider reported that his horse was momentarily inconvenienced as the starting gate rebounded which is a fact. I used the word surprisingly because he could have done that immediately but chose to do that after the all clear signal was given. SURPRISING indeed. It clearly shows the intentions of the jockey. Grand Design was rated 67 when it arrived at Kolkotta and has cleverly brought down to 37. Remember that it has won a race at 49 rating and placed second to Angel Crown at a rating of 61. Make your pick out of these three.I would choose Grand Design.

An avoidable race wherein 4 of the seven runners look to be in with a chance of winning.

Another race where picking a winner is tricky. With five  out of the seven runners look to be in with a chance of winning.

Exxin, Awesome Indian and Royal Saga should fight it out. Awesome Indian after a good mock race this season had a run but the saddle slipped in its run and it finished off the board. Lets not forget that it has won a race in Kolkotta at  a rating of 75 and it is rated at 42 today. Exxin has also won at 54 and today running at 44. Royal Saga who has last won at 50 is running at 37 today. The running of the race and a little bit of luck will decide the winner.
